About Library

The Central Library of P.N. Das College plays a pivotal role in the teaching learning process of the college. The library is situated on the ground floor of a two- storied building with students reading room, Teachers’ Reading Room, Stack, Exhibition Room and Librarian’s Office. The library has internet browsing facilities and reprography facilities are made available to the students.

The librarian and other staff members of the library are very cooperative and guide the students on various aspects. The Library maintains book bank facility for financially challenged students.

The membership for lending is open to teachers, students and non-teaching staff of the college. Besides that users can use both softcopy and hardcopy of University Question paper, College Test Question paper, Internal Assessment Question paper from college library. The library stack room is partially open for students. User also read daily newspapers from library reading room. Users also get reprography and print out facilities from college library. The library remains open from 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M., and the lending section functions from 10.30 A.M. to 5.00 P.M.

The college library is fully automated using Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) software KOHA. KOHA software was starting in our college from 2015. Users are searching catalogue from WEBOPAC (https://pnd-opac.kohacloud.in) from 2017. There are 15499 books and 10 periodicals in the college library. The library issued digital library card for lending. In WEBOPAC, user also access different sites ( through link) like WBSU, National Library, National Digital Library, NMEICT, Virtual Lab, N-LIST and many other free e-books, e-journals, e-newspaper and so on.

The library has joined the N-LIST programme (conducted by INFLIBNET) since 2015. Now user can access 6,000+ e-journals, 1,99,500 e-books through N-LIST. In library reading room, 4 computers are allotted for students and 2 computers for teachers for searching e-documents.

Every beginning of the session Central Library organizes “Library User Orientation Programme”. In COVID-19 pandemic situation library had also organize 5 library user orientation programmes on online mode. Librarian also organized 5-Days training programme on “Use of Open Access Resources for Faculty Members” on 2018. The central library also guided students for Entry-in-Service. There is also good collection of many books of Entry-in-Service.

The library also organizes programmes under the scheme “Earn While You Learn”. In this scheme, our college students work different types of activities in library activities like listing of old syllabus books, listing of damage books, stacking and many other activities. They also get remuneration for their activity. Library organizes this programme every session.

Central Library also organize “Book Talk” programme. The programme is open to all students of the college. Each student can deliver his/ her speech within 5 minutes about one book which must be issued from college central library. The winner is awarded.

Central library organizes World Book Day exhibition.
